I found an app to help me update the blog! Hopefully this means more frequent updates.

Let’s see… What has happened since the last time I posted…

Wombat is now 1 year old, and bigger and calmer.

We ended up giving away the fish to our friend Alaric, because the tank started leaking, and he would provide a better home. But not before the mommy apisto finally had a successful litter of babies, some of whom almost got to adult size. The fish are now much happier spread around his 7 frequently cared for tanks.

And there have been some medical things going on. I found out I had pre-diabetes. This meant getting on a more restricted diet, exercising way more, and being on Metformin. But one side effect of those things was losing weight! So it wasn’t all bad. The worst part is not being able to eat cake and having to prick my fingers all the time to test blood sugar.

I think those are all the big things.

We are now fostering these wonder kitties through the Williamson County Humane Society.

The tiny mommy cat is super sweet and takes really good care of the kittens. Her favorite thing to do is nibbling on people toes and purring. Poor thing has been struggling with diarrhea since she got here, and that has been a challenge. ( Thanks Kyle.) But she has been getting better. The kittens are Adorable, Tiny and wobbly and so cute.

Here is a picture of feeding time, the small size of the mom makes the kittens look huge, but the kittens are each only the size of my palm.

Dog harnesses

Wombat wasn’t very good on a leash when we first got her, so we put a harness on her. We sort of trained her to be much better on leash now, so much so that we no longer need harnesses. Which by the way, involved treats every few steps when she isn’t pulling. We had been trying out this harness that we got from the trainer:

It was nice at first and helped a lot… but I just didn’t like the color choices available to me at the trainer. When I tried to get a custom order on their website through email, I found the customer service very rude… enough so that I re-evaluated whether I actually need this harness. And you know what? We don’t. She has been doing just fine on this leash:

It’s amazing how much difference bad customer service makes. I will be returning that other harness we tried as well.

We went to Noble Pig for lunch, spent some time at the dog park, and had dinner at Uchiko. It was a wonderful day!
